With proud Canadian roots, our technology was invented at McGill University’s
world-renowned Alternative Fuels Laboratory, and was funded by the leading
climate technology venture studio and fund, BXVentures.
Hayden Smith
CEO & Board Member
Hayden brings 17-years of energy
innovation and leadership
experience, most notably as co-
founder of Siemens Energy Ventures
and senior management at Siemens
and Rolls-Royce. He is a Certified
Project Manager and has a Bachelor
of Engineering from McGill University.
Prof. Jeffrey Bergthorson
Chief Scientific Advisor & Board Member
Professor Bergthorson has 17-years
experience in academia for impact,
and is currently a McGill University
Professor and the head of its
Alternative Fuels Laboratory. He is
recognized as a world expert in
alternative combustion and energy
systems, and has a PhD in
Engineering from Caltech.
Jochem Kamstra
Business Development
Jochem has 20-years of experience in sustainability, with roles in
leadership and business
development. Most notably, he held
leadership positions at Siemens
Energy and Ingersol Rand. He has a
Bachelor of Engineering from Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, and an MBA from Royal
Roads University
Dr. Marc Guilbert
CFO & Chairman
Dr. Guilbert has 18-years experience
in finance across markets, strategy
and treasury, and is a serial
entrepreneur. He holds a PhD in
theoretical physics from the
University of Cambridge.
Parinaz Farhadi
Scientist
Parinaz is the inventor of the iron-
based decarbonized heating
prototype, the centerpiece of
FeX energy’s innovation. She has a
Bachelor degree from Sharif
University of Technology, and a
Masters of Engineering from McGill
University.
Dr. Jan Palecka
Scientist
Dr. Palecka has 12-years of
experience in the alternative fuels
and metal combustion field. He
is completing a postdoctoral fellowship
in metal fuel systems and has a PhD
in Engineering from McGill University.
Joel Jean-Philyppe
Product Integration Lead
Joel has 5-years of experience in
aerospace and rocketry, as well as 3
years of experience in metal fuels
combustion. He holds a Bachelor of
Engineering at McGill University and
is currently pursuing his PhD with the
Alternative Fuels Laboratory.
